Markus Reck is a student of art history, Byzantine art history and Christian archaeology as well as European ethnology at the University of Freiburg. In his professional work, he has observed Germany’s media landscape for six years, especially television and radio. Prior to his studies in Freiburg, Markus also studied music at the Jazz & Rock Guitar School in Rastatt and the Jazz & Rock School in Freiburg. He subsequently completed an apprenticeship in photography at the GLG Freiburg.
Markus has worked in the field of nude photography since 1999, when he first received requests from various institutions, musicians and actors. In 2007, he took the advertisement photograph for the play ‘Todesvariationen’, which was directed by Johanna Meier and performed at Freiburg University’s Peterhofkeller. That same year, Markus won the photography competition ‘Menschen, Akt, Portrait’organized by the magazine ‘Foto Hits. Magazin für Fotografie und Bildbearbeitung’. In 2008, he recorded the performance of Johanna Meier’s ‘Kleidertausch’, which was staged by the group ‘Zeitgenossen’ at the ‘ct-Festival’.
In the akträume exhibition, Markus presents various categories of the photographic works he has created over the past years.
